Bonuses apply based on your passport, not where you currently live. After 5 consecutive years of residence in a nation other than your passport nation, you're automatically naturalised — you receive its passport, but your military rank/experience is wiped.

Ticket money goes to your origin nation. If you enter a nation that isn't your passport nation, that destination nation may charge an Immigration Tax (default $0, cap $5,000) — waived for citizens returning to their own passport nation.
