Work, Wages & Vehicles
Get a job from the Jobs section, press Start Shift, wait for the timer (3 hours for civilian jobs, 1 hour for military duty), then Claim your wage and experience.
The Job Market has three tabs: State Jobs, Private Jobs (production shifts in players' companies) and 📣 Consulting & Marketing — specialist posts that pay a fixed wage and give the company's products an extra star for 24 hours. That tab is split into two sub-tabs, one per post, and every offer shows when its next shift can start:
- 👴 Consultant — players aged 70+ with Productivity 100+, a flat 20⚡ per shift at any age. See Elderly consultants.
- 📣 Marketing specialist — players with a Degree in Marketing, under 70; an ordinary shift, energy by age. See Marketing specialists.
The two state careers that must be built first
Most state work is the Government Employee post: always available, no requirements, paid the base state wage. Two others exist only where the State has put up the building that creates them (see Public Works):
| Police Inspector | Public Doctor | |
|---|---|---|
| Needs | a Police Station in the nation | a Hospital in the nation |
| Degree | Degree in Law | Degree in Medicine |
| Posts | 3 per building | |
| Wage | ×3 the base state wage — the multiplier below still applies on top | |
| Shifts | 3 a day per building, shared by everyone holding the post | |
Those daily shifts are a common pool, not one each: whoever starts first takes them, and the same person may take all three if nobody else does. Several holders can also work at the same time. When the pool runs dry the post is closed until the next year.
The post follows the building. If the station falls into ruin for unpaid upkeep, or Parliament votes it down, the posts go with it and their holders are let go on the spot. And with only three shifts a day to share, an unlucky inspector may not reach the three yearly shifts the Discipline dogma and the Productivity Bonus ask for.
Wage formula
Your work & production multiplier is:
pv = work_experience + (education_lvl × 25)
multiplier = min(1 + pv/100, 2.0) — capped at ×2.00
Work experience grows by +1 for every completed work shift (a little more with an equipped item that boosts XP, e.g. +12% with the Personal Encyclopaedia), and it is permanent. It comes from state jobs, private jobs, consultant and marketing posts, and from the shifts an owner works in their own Medical Clinic, Gym, Beauty Salon, Law Firm, Restaurant or Boutique. Military and militia training build military experience instead, never work experience.
Gross wage = base wage × multiplier. Income tax (15% by default, law-adjustable) is deducted, then the happiness modifier is applied:
| Happiness | Wage modifier |
|---|---|
| < 15 | ×0.80 |
| < 30 | ×0.90 |
| 30–70 (normal) | ×1.00 |
| > 70 | ×1.05 |
| > 85 | ×1.10 |
Further bonuses stack on top: equipped-item income bonuses, religion dogmas (Prosperity/Discipline, +5% each), and your passport nation's own income bonus.
Cars & fuel shorten the work timer
Equipping a car and keeping Fuel in your inventory divides the shift/study timer:
| Car | Speed divisor | Fuel per shift | 3h shift becomes |
|---|---|---|---|
| LQ Auto | ÷1.5 | 1 | ~2h00 |
| Med Auto | ÷2.0 | 2 | 1h30 |
| Luxury Auto | ÷2.5 | 3 | 1h12 |
Military and militia training shifts are not affected: they always last 1 hour, and an equipped car uses no Fuel and takes no wear during them.
pv, a quarter of the way to the ×2.00 cap.
